Thinking Foundation

Thinking IS the Foundation for Learning
The mission of the non-profit Thinking Foundation is to support high quality research on cognitive skills development, creativity, and critical reflection—at pre-school, K-12 and college levels in order to transform learning, literacy, teaching and leadership around the world for those with the greatest need.

Thinking Foundation focuses on research and support of cognitive and critical thinking development in schools toward the goal of creating Thinking Schools nationally and internationally.  As part of their mission we have a range of collaborations with different organizations and people from universities, professional development consultancy companies, and non-profit educational groups.  These people and their organizations together inform and drive our work and research.

David Hyerle is the founder of Thinking Foundation. He is the developer of the Thinking Maps model and author of the primary training resources for implementing Thinking Maps. Presently, David is the Director of Research and Development for DFT and facilitating new applications of Thinking Maps in the field. He is a frequent keynote speaker, author of two Corwin Press books focused on visual tools and developer of a new online course: Visual Tools for Thinking. David is also co-author with Larry Alper and Chris Yeager of the new leadership guide and training … Thinking Maps: Leading with a New Language.
